Warmachine & Hordes
I discovered Warmachine shortly after it was released, when Privateer Press was a tiny new company and no one had even heard of the game. The gaming group had a quick look and shelved it for almost a year. After a couple of false starts, we finally took off with Warmachine, and after it was released, its sister game, Hordes. The Privateer Press games have the most clearly-written rules I have ever encountered in any genre of gaming. Furthermore, even though the company releases LOTS of different units for the factions, the game is still playable with a low model count. That is to say, a person who wants an army with very few models (less spending, less painting) can still be very competitive in a group where larger armies are fielded. Warmachine and Hordes have become two of the main staples of our group. Even though I'm not solely dedicated to them (as I once was), I still love playing them when I want a real brain-burner of a game. | Gallery Posts

Battlefleet Gothic
This is a touchy issue in some circles, but I'll just come out with it. If Games Workshop's core systems were half as good as their small range of Specialist Games, I might actually consider playing them again. BFG was one of those games that caught my eye back when I was looking for some variety in my gaming but I still wasn't aware of the infinite number of non-GW options out there to choose from. Marc and I had started the game quite some time ago, but it's only been fairly recently that others in the group have joined on with us. We don't play it as often as I'd like to, but it's a great game (with free rules at GW's Specialist Games site) that requires very few models to play. | Space Gallery
