Armed Peasants (unit #1)

Impetus Unit Type: FP
Base Size: 8cm x 3cm
Special: none
Manufacturer: Corvus Belli
Comments:
15mm Impetus is getting its second wind in our group and, motivated by the excitement, I dug into my Corvus Belli collection in search of something to paint. I love these peasant models and, aesthetics aside, they offer a valuable addition to my army. Where my dismounted men-at-arms cost 25 points per unit, these fellows cost only a mere 7 points in comparison. Having a cheaper infantry option gives me a great deal more flexibility when designing lists, especially lower points-cost ones.

As you can see, some unfortunate young knight has been given the rather inglorious charge of keeping the peasants in line, which is to say, keeping them from getting in the way of the "real" army.

That's a lovely wee unit, I really like the painting style.

I take it these are for the free company? Looks solid, and Mr. S. is right, you've really got a nice style going with these.

FYI, there's an article on the Normans in Ireland in Wargames Illustrated, maybe 4 months back?

Thanks gentlemen. These models are so fun to paint. I actually have another unit primed and ready to go.

Yeah FMB, these are for the Free Company. Or, I could always paint up another 50 or 60 units and do a Peasant Revolt army :)

Hi Jason,

These look really good! Two questions..

Are you using metallics for the armor or are you using grays to simulate the metal colors?

The colors look so solid and vibrant I have to ask, are these painted over a black undercoat?

Jason,
Great painting, as usual!

Thanks again for the kind remarks gents. To answer your questions Ron, the "metallic" areas are done with grey paints and a wash and the models are all primed black.

I should mention, I use P3 paints almost exclusively. I find their colour palette so much more vibrant and strong than the Citadel paint range.
